Located on the East coast of the island, Ogliastra, is one of the most beautiful areas of Sardinia.. Still preserves its wild and impervious nature, showing one of the most gorgeous seascape of all the Mediterranean.
Everybody can find here its ideal dimension: small creeks dipped into the greenery, and set between precipices and sea cliffs easily accessible by boat or for those who loves the feeling of relax and solitude even kayak. There are also large beaches easily accessible by car or bikes.
The sea is perfect for a long swim and fishing but if you want to experience the feeling of open spaces you can windsurfing and kite surfing as well. And for those who want to see a “deeper” side of Ogliastra, is there anything better than a discovering immersion into the soundless and involving sea world?
But Ogliastra is also mountains, nature… an unspoilt nature that, from the gorgeous hills goes up to the Gennargentu’s massif. A nature that requires a sharp, curious look to all the different flora and fauna species. Beautiful places reachable by foot or by mountain bike, free climbing and even by horseback.
You can also experience the fascinating tour on the “Trenino Verde”(Little Green Train), in a class by itself, that takes you through some unspoilt and wild territory.
Ogliastra is also history, archaeology, tradition; located all around the territory there are the “Nuraghi” (the symbol of the Sardinian identity), the “Domus de Janas”, the “Tombe dei Giganti” (Tombs of the Giants) and the Menhir. The coastline indead, is characterized by the Saracen Towers.
In all the towns there are a lot of particular museums dedicated to the traditional art and the archaeology of this charming island.
Even in gastronomy Ogliastra has been able to keep old traditions, and still today you can taste old and unique recipes!
Only the colours, the landscapes, the perfumes, the cordiality of the people can fully describes the magic and the harmony of the Ogliastra to whom, tiptoeing came to visit!
